I often link to pages of the official Social Security website, www.socialsecurity.gov, so that you can see sources for the general information provided here.
In addition to the official website, the Social Security Administration uses different social media channels to help reach a broad audience.
Included is the official agency blog, Social Security Matters at http://blog.ssa.gov/.
The blog is intended to be an interactive center for engaging with people by answering questions and concerns in a way that benefits all readers and contributors. Meaningful feedback from Social Security Matters can help Social Security serve people more effectively. Opinions and questions are a big part of receiving public comment.
If you post there, do not provide personally identifiable information. Social Security personnel monitoring the Social Security Matters site do not have access to personal benefit information and cannot answer questions about your individual record. Direct those questions to a SSA representative, either by calling the national toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), or your local office.
Using your preferred social media, Social Security Matters lets you share posts with a click of a button. In addition, you can subscribe to it and get Social Security news as it happens. Simply select the blue button titled “Get blog updates.”
Of course, you are invited to tell your friends about this Areavoices site too.
