Social Security benefits by Zip Code

Now you can learn how many people receive Social Security benefits in your zip code. During September, the Social Security Administration published an annual publication having Social Security beneficiary data at the zip code level.

OASDI Beneficiaries by State and ZIP Code, 2011, presents program data on the number and type of beneficiaries and the amount of benefits paid in each state, arranged by Social Security Administration field office, and ZIP Code. It also shows the number of beneficiaries aged 65 or older. Data is as of December 2011.

Information is arranged by the Social Security office responsible for workloads in a zip code. For example, when viewing North Dakota information, you will first see Bismarck, meaning the SSA field office there, followed by all the zip codes handled by that office. Social Security offices are often responsible for workloads in more than one state so, for example, the SSA offices in Grand Forks ND, Fargo ND, and Fergus Falls MN are in both the ND and MN charts.

Reminder: OASDI stands for Old Age (Retirement), Survivors and Disability insurance = Social Security
